Seneca boys hoops win 57-50 at Weston, fall 71-66 at De Soto

The Seneca Royals boys basketball team traveled to Cazenovia on Tuesday, Dec. 19 hoping to get back to winning with a conference game against Weston. Those hopes came to fruition as the Royals held off the host Silver Eagles 57-50.
Seneca then traveled to De Soto on Thursday, Dec. 22 for their final game before winter break. The host Pirates held off a tough Royals team to claim a 71-66 win.
After a first half in which the Pirates took a slim 28-27 lead, the hosts extended their lead and claiming a 71-66 victory.
Reggie George led the Royals in scoring during the game with 21 points, with Dawson Davidson (17 points) and Gage Wall (14 points) also scoring in double figures for Seneca. Also getting into the scoring column were Briar Wall (6 points), Hunter Hagensick and Jackson Konichek (3 points each), and Owen Oppriecht (2 points).
Seneca Head Coach Brian Kwasny explained about the loss, “I thought we played hard and kept fighting back. I am proud of the toughness displayed by my young team. We are starting to show signs of what we could become.”
The Royals dropped to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the Ridge and Valley Conference with the loss. They resume play by hosting River Ridge on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 7:15 p.m.
