The North Crawford/Seneca wrestling team traveled to Postville, Iowa on Thursday, Dec. 21 to compete in a new dual tournament against teams from Northeast Iowa.

NC/S went 1-3 on the night, earning a 26-18 win over Central Community Elkader before falling to Clayton Ridge 36-23, Postville 48-30, and Waukon 69-12.

Individually, they were led by Jaren Grimsled at 106 pounds who went 4-0 with four pins. Grimsled defeated Jonah Burns (Central Community) in 0:36, Jesus Lara (Clayton Ridge) in 1:19, Michael Hill (Postville) in 3:22, and Garner Lange (Waukon) in 1:04. 

Also going undefeated on the night was Thomas Sprosty who went 3-0 at 150 pounds and 1-0 at 144 pounds. Sprosty picked up victories over Preston Kulper (Central Community) by a score of 16-4, Lane Rork (Clayton Ridge) via technical fall 15-0, Jacob White (Postville) (Fall 0:37), and a forfeit victory at 144 pounds during the Waukon dual.

Sawyer Swiggum went 3-1 on the night at 215 and 285 pounds, with his one loss coming in overtime. Swiggum earned pinfall wins over Gannon Jaster (Clayton Ridge) in 1:28 (at 285 pounds), and Sam Acevedo (Postville) in 4:00, as well picking up a forfeit win during the dual with Central Commuity. Waukon’s Tryston Johnson defeated Swiggum 10-8 in overtime to give Swiggum his only loss of the evening.

NC/S returns to the mat at the Bi-State Classic at the La Crosse Center on Friday, Dec. 29 and Saturday, Dec. 30.
