Justin R. Henning
Justin Robert Henning, 41, of Burlington, formerly of Monona, passed away peacefully on Dec. 16, 2023. He was surrounded by those who love him.
Justin was born on May 26, 1982, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., the son of Kevin and Cindy (Hubanks) Henning. He attended MFL MarMac in Monona. After high school, he attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in industrial arts technology education. He moved to the Burlington area, where he educated many students at Mediapolis Schools. Justin left education to pursue the business world. He started at Flint Cliffs Manufacturing, then joined the Fusion Tech team in Illinois. He was brought on to KPI Concepts to create what is now known as KPI Metals. Most recently, he was the vision behind Winegard’s Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Division.
While he was in education, Justin enjoyed coaching wrestling and baseball. He loved pheasant and deer hunting with the boys in northeast and southeast Iowa. Looking for a deer was a favorite pastime. He could walk in a room of strangers and come out with friends, and he thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people. He cherished his friends, whether they were old or new, close or far, and looked forward to every gathering.
In the 41 years Justin lived, he was so many things to so many people. He was a father, son, brother, husband, uncle, nephew and friend. Above all things, Justin loved his son. He enjoyed attending and supporting Kase in all of his activities. They had an equal passion for Iowa Hawkeye football. The passion ran deep when it came to playing the Wisconsin Badgers. For now, the Buck-Hawk trophy stays in Iowa. Justin’s life and legacy will live on through his son.
Survivors include his beloved son, Kase Henning of Burlington; mother, Cindy Henning of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; brother, Travis Henning of Harper’s Ferry; special niece, Keya Welch, McGregor; mother of his son and best friend, Jamie Henning of Burlington; and many aunts and uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his loving father, Kevin Henning; paternal grandparents, Dale and Bonnie Henning; and maternal grandparents, Robert and Adeline Hubanks.
Services will be held in his honor at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, at the Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien, Wis. There will be a one-hour visitation before the services at the church. A luncheon will be provided after the services. Burial will follow at Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery, Farmersburg. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Burlington.
A special thank you to the University of Iowa Hospitals, especially the Digestive Health Center, for all of their loving care of Justin.
