Jerry Vernon Robbins, 64 of Elgin, passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, at WinnMed in Decorah. Jerry was born July 23, 1959 to Charles and Laverne (Stock) Robbins in McGregor. He graduated from Central High School in Elkader with the class of 1977.

 

Throughout the years, Jerry worked sanitation in Volga City, worked odd jobs in Cedar Rapids and most currently did a paper route in the Elgin and Clermont area for the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Jerry was an avid sports watcher and was a huge fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds.

 

Surviving Jerry are his siblings, Blanche (Bruce) Kraus of Arlington and Larry Robbins of Cedar Rapids, and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Laverne Robbins; three brothers, Lewis James Robbins, Terry Charles Robbins and Kevin Parnell Robbins; sister, Pat Durr; brother-in-law, Robert Durr; and special friend, Beverly Kraus.

 

A celebration of life was held Nov. 18, at the American Legion Hall in Elgin.

 

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elgin is assisting the family with arrangements.
