The MFL MarMac volleyball team’s season came to a close Oct. 16, in a 3-0 loss at Cascade in a Class 2A first round playoff match-up.

The Cougars pounced on the Bulldogs 25-3 in the first set, and also won the next two handily, 25-7 and 25-9.

MFL MarMac took only seven fewer kill attempts, at 58 to 51, but struggled to capitalize at the net. Cascade totaled 30 kills and the Bulldogs just six.

Hannah Bogdonovich and Devon Meyer each contributed two kills, and Maddie Keehner and Ella Corlett had one apiece. Mallory Lang was responsible for five of the team’s six assists.

The Cougars also hammered home 22 aces against the MFL MarMac defense, and completed 90.5 percent of their serves.

Lauryn Johnson racked up over a third of the Bulldogs’ digs, with seven, followed by Kaitlin Picha and Avery Lamborn with five each. Lang earned two.

MFL MarMac hit just 85 percent of serves, led by a 4-4 effort by Lang. Bogdonovich made four of six tries, and had the team’s lone ace.
