Roland Gustav Troester, 91, of Garnavillo, passed away peacefully at his home, on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023.

A private graveside service will be held.

Roland was born on Nov. 21, 1931, to Gustav and Louise (Brase) Troester on the family farm in Clayton Township. He attended Country School through the eighth grade. He was a farmer all his life and retired from farming in 2001. 

On Oct. 14, 1958, he married Sharon Lee Johanningmeier at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monona. To this union were born three children. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. After retiring, he built a home on the farm acreage. He had many small hobbies and especially enjoyed traveling with Sharon. 

Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years, Sharon; children, LuAnn (Dennis) Martins, Ronald Troester, Carol (Jim) Klein; grandchildren, Jessica (Kyle Dillahunt) Klein, Nathan Klein; and five step-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Oscar; and sister, Berdina Duwe.
