The MFL MarMac boys and girls cross country teams scored several top-10 finishes—including a meet victory for junior Jacob Schellhorn—in their home meet at Tri City Golf Course on Aug. 31.
Schellhorn turned in a time of 17:21.16, over 20 seconds ahead of second-place Noah Valenzuela from East Buchanan.
Teammate Tucker Ruff cruised into 13th with a 19:46.27, while Malachi Ames earned a time of 20:21.43 for 17th place. Jaxon Millage crossed 32nd in 22:04.29 and Logan Ross was 54th at 24:39.77.
The boys’ 103 points put them fourth as a team. Postville won the meet with 69, followed by Central at 87 and North Fayette Valley at 92.
The lady Bulldogs, meanwhile, edged North Fayette Valley 63-67 for second place in their race. South Winn’s score of 37 won the meet.
MFL MarMac was bolstered by respective seventh- and eighth-place finishes by Cora Keehner and Brooke Donlon. Keehner’s 22:38.53 was just a smidge ahead of the 22:38.66 put up by Donlon.
Skylar Fisk crossed the line 13th with a time of 23:20.42, and Evelyn Ruff and Emma Koether had respective times of 24:35.33 and 24:41.01 to come in 17th and 18th.
