Municipal, school candidate filing begins Aug. 28

Those interested in running for local municipal and school board offices can place their name on the ballot by filing nomination papers in the coming weeks.
Filing will open on Monday, Aug. 28, and close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21.
Nomination papers and candidate guides are available online at the Iowa Secretary of State's website: https://sos.iowa.gov.
School board candidates may also pick up papers at the office of board secretary David Schlueter at the Guttenberg business office.
Municipal candidate papers are available at the Guttenberg city office.
Completed municipal nomination papers must be filed at the office of the Clayton County Auditor in Elkader. School board nomination papers must be filed at the office of board secretary David Schlueter.
Municipal seats
On the city council, two seats are up for election; the positions are currently held by Austin Greve and Jane Parker.
Hospital board members whose terms are up for election are Bill Allyn, Janice Andregg and Austin Coon.
School board
On the Clayton Ridge school board, the terms of Steve Dikkers, John Heying, Ellen Johnson, Michelle Mertens-Dodge and Sam Brandt will expire this year. Four of the five open positions are for normal term expirations and one position is to fill a vacancy that will expire in two years.
