Mary Lou (Lyman) Herzog, 66, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 11, at the funeral home.

On Feb. 1, 1957, Mary was born to Robert and Marjorie (Jackson) Lyman in Storm Lake. She graduated high school in 1975 from Newell Providence in Newell.

Mary was united in marriage to Kerry Herzog on Aug. 29, 1997, in Guttenberg.

Mary worked as the manager of Mrs. Mom’s restaurant in Storm Lake. Most recently, she worked for Guttenberg Industries and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Guttenberg. In her free time, Mary volunteered at the Catholic Worker House in Waterloo. She loved to golf. Mary’s family was everything to her and she had a special bond with all her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Left to cherish Mary’s memory include her brothers, Mitch (Lauri) Lyman; Mike (Joan) Lyman, Merle (Mary Beth) Lyman, Mark (Diane) Lyman; sister, Mardel (Wes) Frick, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kerry Herzog on Dec. 31, 2022; parents, Robert and Marjorie Lyman and grandparents, Dean and Helen Lyman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Newell Food Pantry, 119 S. Fulton, Newell, Iowa or the Newell New Pool Fund C/O Newell City Hall, 207 E. Second St., Newell, Iowa.
