All-conference honors for three War Eagle baseball players

Three Clayton Ridge-Central War Eagles were Upper Iowa all-conference baseball selections, including seniors Caden Helle and Kylar Millard and sophomore Kahne Bolsinger. 

 

Receiving first team honors was shortstop and pitcher Helle, who started 23 games. He collected 17 hits, which tied for second on the team, including 11 singles and a team leading four doubles. His 15 RBIs were also a team high. Helle walked 14 times and had a batting average of .309, which led all players who started 20 games or more, and he finished second in runs scored with nine. Helle additionally stole eight bases on nine attempts.

 

As a shortstop, Helle had an .828 fielding percentage, with 18 putouts and 30 assists. Then, as a pitcher, he pitched 36 innings and started six games, going 3-3. Helle had a team high 59 strikeouts and a 1.56 ERA, allowing just eight earned runs, and held opponents to a .168 batting average. 

 

Earning all-conference honorable mention, Millard started 22 games at second base and outfielder for the War Eagles. He amassed 17 hits in 60 at bats, including 15 singles and two doubles, as well as three RBIs. His .283 average was second on the team. Millard also scored seven runs, stole four bases and had a .911 fielding percentage with 31 putouts and 20 assists.  

 

Bolsinger earned all-conference honorable mention as a first baseman. The sophomore started and played in a team high 29 games, leading CR-C in several categories, including at-bats with 86, hits with 24 and singles with 20. Bolsinger tied for second in RBIs with 11, scored seven runs, hit .279 and had an on-base percentage of .319. He also led the team with 17 stolen bases. Defensively, Bolsinger had a fielding percentage of .954 with 142 putouts and three assists.
