Organizations seek back-to-school items
By Caroline Rosacker
Shepherd of the Hills, St. Olaf, and Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics (GMHC) Family Resource Center, Guttenberg are seeking new school supplies and monetary donations for their back-to-school fund drives.
Shepherd of the Hills
Shepherd of the Hills will sponsor their annual Back to School Fund Drive on Aug. 9. Last year the charitable organization filled 238 backpacks for families in need.
"Remember the excitement of getting ready to head back to school as a child? Some children do not look forward to this time, as their family may not be able to purchase those 'new' items," said Heather Hageman, Shepherd of the Hills Director
Family Resource Center
The Family Resource Center asks families in need of school supplies to call 563-252-3215 or scan the QR code on community-wide posters if you would like help with supplies for your child this school year. Supplies will be available for pick up at the Family Resource Center in Guttenberg and Edgewood any time from Aug. 7 - 11.
Donations accepted
Anyone wishing to donate new school supplies or make a monetary donation can drop off, or mail them to Shepherd of the Hills, 100 West Hill Street, St. Olaf by July 31; or the Family Resource Center at 514 South River Park Drive, Guttenberg before Aug. 7.
"We will use monetary donations to purchase any items not donated," said organizers.
