Lois M. Harwood, age 98 of Prairie du Chien, Wisc. passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at Bluff Haven in Prairie du Chien. She was born in Prairie du Chien on January 22, 1925, to Raymond A. and Mary (Gokey) Coorough. She attended grade school at St. Gabriel’s and graduated from B.A. Kennedy High School, both in Prairie du Chien.
She married the love of her life Jasper J. Harwood in 1942, and they had a wonderful life together. Lois’ husband Jasper preceded her in death on October 27, 2005. Lois and Jasper enjoyed raising four children together and were blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their family includes their children Dawn (Jim) Wood, Kathleen Harwood (deceased), Dan (Shirley) Harwood, and Steve (Nancy) Harwood; grandchildren Laura (Brad) Crosby, Kennan (Lynn) Wood, Brian Harwood (deceased), Josh (Randi) Harwood, Ben Harwood (deceased), Aaron (Angie) Harwood, Matthew (Liz) Harwood, Carrie Wipplinger, Annie (Grant) Upson, Adam (Lana) Harwood, Jonathan (Lana) Harwood, Jackson Harwood; great grandchildren Alena Wood, Amia Harwood, Anna Harwood, Ava Harwood (daughter of Josh), Ava Harwood (daughter of Adam), Benjamin Harwood, Claire Harwood, Conner Crosby, Colten Crosby, Evey Harwood, Hayden Harwood, Kennedy Harwood, Landon Harwood, Laura Harwood, Levi Harwood, Luke Harwood, Noah Harwood, Roger Upson, Rose Upson, Shay Harwood, Willa Wipplinger. Lois is also survived by her dear friend and sister-in-law Eldora Coorough.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and also at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of departure for church. www.garrityfuneralhome.com
