The historic Stemmer house on Oak Avenue in Elkader will be one of the featured homes in the Carter House Museum this tour season.

The Carter House Museum will open its doors for the season beginning Saturday and Sunday, June 3 and 4, from 1-4 p.m. This year’s focus will be on some of Elkader’s historic homes including their history, the families who lived there and existing photos. Examples are the S. T. Woodward house, which is prominently located atop Kramer’s Hill. Also, the Timothy Davis house, which is currently the funeral home by the school. Each house will be featured in a separate room in the Carter House.

The museum will be open each weekend, Saturday and Sunday, from 1-4 p.m., through Labor Day. If you are interested in being a greeter or a tour guide, please contact Mary Lammers (563-245-1787) or Barb Chandler (563-245-2042). Memberships are available.
