Anne E. Mezera

Anne E. Mezera, age 86 of Prairie du Chien passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Garden View Place in Monona. She was born July 26, 1936, the daughter of Anthony and Grace (Wall) Mezera. Anne grew up on Irish Ridge Road and would eventually teach in the one room schoolhouse there before going to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. There, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in education and continued to teach elementary school in Rockford, IL. Anne then moved closer to home to help care for her parents and further taught in the MFL Mar-Mac school district until retirement.
She was involved in Homemakers and Card Club at the Eagles Club in Prairie du Chien. She enjoyed crafting with coworkers and tending to her garden. Anne loved her family and was always there to look after her great nieces and nephews. She is survived by her siblings Therese Hromadka and Phyllis Lee; her god children Mary Recker, Monica Luff, Vicki Dudenbostel, and Dan Hromadka; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Aelred “Hop” Mezera, Sylvester Mezera, and Margaret Arado.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home on Monday, May 22, 2023, from 4:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with the Holy Rosary at 6:30 P.M.
