Braxton Bormann ran the second leg of the shuttle hurdle relay for Central. The team placed sixth.

Ryan Schroeder finished 15th in the discus at the state qualifying meet.

The Central boys track and field season came to an end at the May 11 Class 1A state qualifying meet at Edgewood-Colesburg. The Warriors placed 14th among 15 teams while scoring 10 points across 18 events, including nearly a dozen top-10 finishes.  

 

In the field events, Central placed in the top 10 in the four major disciplines. Isaac Loan cleared 5-04 to finish ninth in the high jump, while Collin Jaster landed his longest jump attempt at 17-00 feet, placing seventh out of 16 athletes in the long jump. 

 

The throwing events included a ninth-place effort by Carson Ruegnitz in the discus with a mark of 103-07, while Ryan Schroeder was 15th. In the shot put, Schroeder fared a bit better, putting up a seventh-place throw of 38-05.50 feet. Jacob Cook placed 19th. 

 

In the sprint races, Cook crossed the finish line 14th in the 100-meter dash, while the 200 featured Tate Berns, whose time of 25.80 seconds was good for 15th. Loan was 18th in the race. 

 

Two Warriors also competed in the 400, with Henry Reimer finishing 12th and Carter Krugger 19th. 

 

The distance races were somewhat more successful, especially in the 800, with a seventh-place effort from Gavin Holst and a 13th-place run by Vaughn Zittergruen. In the 1600, Holst finished 10th and Krugger 15th. The 3200 included respective 13th and 17th placements for Michael White and Declan Finley. 

 

The Warriors additionally participated in the 400-meter hurdles, with Kyle Reinhart finishing 13th, followed by Jaster in 14th.

 

Central’s best relay result was in the shuttle hurdle event, where Preston Kulper, Braxton Bormann, Reinhart and Elliot Kelly placed sixth. Another top 10 came in the 4x800, as Reimer, Bryce Heller, Krugger and Zittergruen finished eighth. 

 

The team turned in a pair of 10th-place times in the distance medley and 4x400. The distance med included Jaster, Berns, Kelly and Zittergruen, while Reimer, Krugger, Reinhart and Heller made up the 4x400.

 

In the sprint medley, Jaster, Cook, Berns and Kelly finished 11th. It was a similar result in the 4x100, with Cook, Schroeder, Kelly and Berns running a 49.97, less than five seconds out of first place. The Warriors added another 11th-place finish in the 4x200 with the team of Reinhart, Bormann, Loan and Schroeder.
