MFL MarMac girls up win total to six

With a 51, Bulldog freshman Devon Meyer was the runner-up in the meet versus the Blue Devils.

The MFL MarMac girls golf team improved to 6-2 last week with wins over Central and West Central. That total already triples the number of victories the Bulldogs earned a season ago.

 

MFL MarMac edged Central 236-248 in an April 24 match-up at Elkader Golf and Country Club. Devon Meyer’s 51 made her the meet medalist, and Warrior Haley Frieden was the runner-up with a 52.

 

Kaylin Garbes shot a 58, which was good for third place, followed by Mackenzie Bachman in fifth with a 62. Kaylee Baker and Morgan Jacobson shot a respective 65 and 66.

 

The Bulldogs easily defeated the Blue Devils, 206-250, in an April 27 meet at Tri City Golf Course near Luana. Baker earned her first medalist honors with a 47, and Meyer was runner-up with a 51.

 

Garbes and Bachman shot a respective 53 and 55 for third and fourth place. West Central’s top golfer, Abby Squires, placed fifth with a 57.

 

A 62 put Bulldog Jacobson in the sixth spot, and Mallory Lang placed ninth after shooting a 65.

 

MFL MarMac started this week with a home meet against Turkey Valley on May 1, then the Oelwein Girls Invitational May 2. The team will host Postville May 4. The Upper Iowa girls conference meet is set for next Tuesday, May 9, at Tri City.
