The MFL MarMac boys golf team last week turned in a score of 159 at back-to-back meets against Clayton Ridge and South Winneshiek. According to head coach Jake Wilke, that’s the lowest team score for the school to anyone’s knowledge.

Those scores came after the Bulldogs opened the week in an April 18 triangular at New Hampton. The host shot a meet-low 153, followed by a 169 from MFL MarMac and 178 by North Fayette Valley.

Chickasaws Jake Shawver and Kyler Glenn were the meet medalist and runner-up after shooting a respective 36 and 38. Ben Gilbert from New Hampton was third with a 39.

Ben Krambeer was the top Bulldog, tying for fourth with a score of 40. Joe Grau was a close sixth with a 41, and Nick Krambeer tied for seventh at 42. Sawyer Keehner and Quinn McGeough both shot a 46, to tie for 13th, and Kyle Tilson rounded out the team score with a 47.

On April 20, the Bulldogs bested Clayton Ridge 159-184 at the Guttenberg Golf and Country Club, turning in a school-best score despite cool temperatures, wind and rain.

Ben Krambeer placed first individually with a 37, followed by teammates Grau and McGeough with 40s. Nick Krambeer shot a 42 for fifth place, and Keehner came in sixth with a 43. Tilson’s 52 put him 11th.

The conditions weren’t much improved at Tri City Golf Course the following night, but MFL MarMac still out-performed South Winn 159-182.

Grau led the way this time, with a 38. Nick and Ben Krambeer each shot a 40, and McGeough wrapped the night with a 41. Keehner came in with a 45 and Jonah Wille a 51.

The Bulldogs are now 15-5 overall and will this week take on Central April 24, in Elkader, before heading back to Tri City against West Central on April 27.
