Relays again proved to be the top events for the MFL MarMac girls track and field team in meets last week in Waukon and Monona.

The Bulldogs turned in a fifth-place performance in the 4x100 at the April 11 Waukon Early Bird, then earned a pair of sixth-place finishes in the 4x200 and 4x400.

Individually, Emma Koether secured eighth in the 800 meter run, and Bayleigh Wood was ninth in the 400.

Maria Stavroplus ran to 15th in the 200 and 16th in the 100, while Melanie Ruff placed 12th in the 100 and Audrey Ruff was 17th in the 200.

Stavroplus also competed in the high jump, turning in a height of 4-02 for eighth place. Amelya Weigand and Ariana Fish participated in the long jump, placing a respective 11th and 15th with jumps of 12-01.25 and 10-03.5.

At the April 13 MFL MarMac Co-Ed meet, Stavroplus improved her high jump height to 4-04, which was good for fifth place. It was also the top individual finish of the day for the Bulldogs.

Other field competitors included Wood and Fish in the long jump, where they came in a respective 13th and 15th with distances of 11-04.25 and 10-01.75. Danica Friedlein’s throw of 19-08 earned her 14th in the shot put. She was also 14th in the discus with a distance of 48-08. Brooklyn Tonn was 15th in the discus and 16th in the shot put.

In the individual running events, it was another good meet for Koether, who lowered her 800 time to 2:58.55 and placed sixth. Weigand turned in a sixth-place effort of her own in the 400, with a time of 1:14.61. Wood ran that race in 1:21.95 and placed 10th.

Audrey Ruff ran in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, coming in a respective 14th and 17th. Fish took 16th in the 100 and Stavroplus crossed the line 13th in the 200.

The Bulldogs finished fourth in three of their five relays. That included a time of 57.49 seconds from Melanie Ruff, Jerica Wille, Hannah Bogdonovich and Madelyn Keehner in the 4x100. The group of Melanie Ruff, Evelyn Ruff, Bogdonovich and Keehner secured a time of 2:03.39 in the 4x200, while Bogdonovich, Keehner, Melanie Ruff and Weigand completed the distance medley in 5:13.86.
