It was another week with multiple top-five finishes—including some victories—for the MFL MarMac boys track and field team.

At the April 10 Decorah Boys Relays, Karter Decker raced to first place in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He completed the 100 in 11.14 seconds and the 200 in 22.7.

Teammate Wyatt Powell finished fourth in the 100, after crossing the line in 11.77 seconds, while Koda Warrington’s effort of 25.7 seconds was good for eighth in the 200.

In the distance races, Jaxon Millage turned in a time of 2:22.56 to place fourth in the 800. Brent Roe was 14th. Jacob Schellhorn won the 3200 on a time of 11:03.29, and also competed in the 400 meter hurdles, completing the lap in 1:05.21 for seventh place.

The relays were highlighted by a second-place effort in the sprint medley. The team additionally earned a pair of sixth-place finishes in the distance medley and shuttle hurdle relays.

In the field events, Parker Kuehl continued to excel in the high jump, where a height of 5-06 put him second. Warrington and Eli Hanson were a respective ninth and 10th in the long jump, after hitting 17-01 and 16-05 feet.

Aiden Schoulte threw his way to sixth in the shot put with a distance of 40-01. A throw of 98-00 placed him 11th in the discus. Hunter Christofferson also competed in both events, coming in 11th in the shot (37-05.75) and 15th in the discus (83-07).

The Bulldogs placed fourth in the team standings, their 63 points just ahead of the 62 by South Winneshiek. Decorah took the top spot at 164, followed by Waukon with 115 and New Hampton 109.

The team inched up to second in the standings at its own MFL MarMac Co-Ed Meet on April 13. With 126 points, the Bulldogs trailed only Crestwood with 159.

Decker’s first-place times in both the 100 and 200 helped the cause. Powell cruised to third in the 100 and Anthony Bunting crossed fifth in the 200.

Hanson turned in a time of 58.41 seconds to place fourth in the 400. Roe was 12th, after completing the race in 1:08.96. He also ran the 1600, earning 13th on a time of 6:37.54.

Other Bulldog distance competitors included Keith Anderson in the 800, where he was ninth with a time of 2:42.66. Schellhorn ran the 3200 in 11:10.18, placing him third.

MFL MarMac teammates Carter Streicher and Tucker Ruff went one-two in the 110-meter hurdles, thanks to respective times of 19.03 and 19.48 seconds. Schellhorn leapt to fourth in the 400-meter event.

The relays were another strong point for the Bulldogs, who were second in the shuttle hurdle event after being edged by just one-hundredth of a second by Clayton Ridge. That team included individual hurdlers Carter Streicher and Ruff as well as Izayah Streicher and Anderson.

In the 4x100, a combined time of 45.29 seconds by Powell, Carver Blietz-Bentien, Kuehl and Decker placed MFL MarMac second. The Bulldogs also took second in the 4x400, this time behind Izayah Streicher, Ruff, Millage and Schellhorn.

The sprint medley squad of Powell, Blietz-Bentien, Kade McElwaine and Brandon Christofferson propelled the team to third in that relay, while Warrington, Bunting, Millage and Ruff ran to fourth in the distance medley.

Kuehl elevated to 5-08 feet to claim first in the high jump. Warrington and Hanson were third and fifth in the long jump on respective distances of 18-03.25 and 17-05 feet.

Schoulte and Christofferson rounded out the field competitors in the shot put and discus. A throw of 39-02.5 feet put Schoulte fourth in the shot, and he was fifth in the discus with an effort of 108-04 feet. Christofferson was third in the discus on a throw of 110-03 feet, while a length of 38-00.5 placed him fifth in the shot put.

Next up for MFL MarMac is a meet at North Fayette Valley on April 21.
