Shop Hop in downtown Prairie du Chien

On Saturday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., multiple businesses in Prairie du Chien are hosting a shop hop! This day will be full of many activities and savings. Local participating businesses will have coupons, and a punch card program. Fill your punch cards and be entered in a chance to win $110 worth of gift certificates. Many of the businesses  are having great sales.
Laurie Pedretti owner of the Broken Ladder, spearheaded the Shop Hop. “We are trying to get people to shop small. People don’t realize there are 11 places downtown to shop; not including your restaurants and bars. There are a lot of new shops downtown. This is a slow time of year so we thought what a great way to get people downtown.”
Many local business owners work with Main Street, the Chamber of Commerce, and Driftless Development Inc. to learn best business practices and obtain grant funding. The work these owners put in to make shopping the PdC Main Street a wonderful experience helps foster the overall economy of the community. Pedretti noted that every season she, like most businesses downtown, have something new in the store, along with patrons’ regular favorites.  This year, the Shop Hop is operating as the Broken Ladder’s Spring Open House.
“We do an awful lot of work, for the few number of people that pop in this time of year,” commented Pedretti. “If we can’t get people from around here to shop downtown year round, some of our businesses may have to close their doors.”
Not only will you have the opportunity to shop, but the Easter Bunny will be on hand and Photography by Hally, LLC will be providing FREE photos from 1 to 3 p.m. The Bold Blazers 4H Drill Team will be hosting a food stand from 11 a.m. to 2 pm. The PdC Library is also hosting its book sale from
9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
