Elmer J. Henkels, 81, of Guttenberg, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital in Guttenberg.

Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 16, at Kramer Funeral Home in Holy Cross and before services at the church.

Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 17, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Buena Vista, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery in Dyersville.

Elmer was born on June 19, 1941, in Turkey River, the son of Clete and Theresia (Digmann) Henkels.  He farmed near North Buena Vista for over 30 years. 

Elmer enjoyed spending time at the farm. He enjoyed the local church activities, meals, and gatherings. Elmer loved a good game of euchre, and attending some of the local euchre tournaments. 

Elmer is survived by his sister, Mary Lou Henkels of Guttenberg. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank the staff at Guttenberg Care Center, St. Croix Hospice, and Guttenberg Municipal Hospital for their compassionate care.
