Wins over East Buchanan and Wapello on Dec. 20 improved the MFL MarMac boys wrestling team to 13-0 in duals.

East Buc put up one of the toughest fights of the season, winning four matches at the upper weights, including falls over Bulldogs Dayne Kohrs (170), Austin Schaller (182), Nolan Lerch (195) and Mason Overton (285). Jarett Hanson was also pinned in his 120-pound match, and Clayton Freese lost by a narrow 6-5 decision at 145.

The Bulldogs still pulled off a 43-33 win, however, bolstered by falls from Rylee Kugel and Taylor Herzmann at 126 and 220 pounds. Holden Mathis secured a 6-0 decision at 132, while Quinn McGeough won by 8-0 major decision at 160. Bryce Radloff (138), Karter Decker (152), Wyatt Mohs (106) and Keith Anderson (113) all won via forfeit.

MFL MarMac defeated Wapello more handily, 65-13. The win included another fall by Herzmann, while Schaller, Lerch, Overton and Hanson got back in the win column by pinning their opponents.

Mathis earned his 19th win of the season with a fall, while Radloff got number 19 by technical fall, 15-0. Decker, McGeough, Kohrs and Anderson each won by forfeit.

Kugel dropped a 4-1 decision and Freese lost by major decision, 16-6, while Mohs was pinned.

The Bulldogs’ first action after winter break will be the Upper Iowa Conference Duals at Postville on Thursday, Jan. 5. The team will then participate in the Farr Jebens Invitational at Maquoketa Valley on Saturday, Jan. 7.
