Bulldogs add two dual wins, place fourth at tournament

The MFL MarMac boys wrestling team picked up two more dual victories last week, easily defeating Edgewood-Colesburg and Beckman Catholic in a Dec. 6 home triangular.
Ten of the Bulldogs’ 11 wins in the 66-12 score over Ed-Co came by forfeit. Holden Mathis won his 132-pound match by fall. The team’s lone losses were at 113 and 126 pounds, where Keith Anderson and Jarett Hanson were pinned by their respective opponents.
MFL MarMac topped Beckman 60-18, propelled by falls from Mathis, Bryce Radloff (138), Karter Decker (152), Quinn McGeough (160), Dayne Kohrs (170) and Will Howes (285). Clayton Freese (145), Nolan Lerch (195), Taylor Herzmann (220) and Wyatt Mohs (106) secured wins due to forfeit. Hanson, Anderson and Austin Schaller (182) all lost by fall.
The Bulldogs wrapped up the week Dec. 10, at the Nashua-Plainfield Tournament. Decker was the team’s top finisher, placing first at 145 pounds, while Radloff was second at 138. Three wrestlers—Anderson (113), Mathis (132) and Herzmann (220)—were fourth in their respective brackets, and McGeough (160) and Howes (285) came in fifth and Lerch (195) sixth. Hanson (120), Schaller (182) and Rylee Kugel (126) did not place.
MFL MarMac placed fourth of 15 teams with a score of 121.5. Wilton took the top spot with 235.5, followed by Nashua-Plainfield at 226.5 and Ballard at 198.5
The Bulldogs were back on the mat Dec. 13, in a dual at Lancaster, Wis. They’ll wrestle in a tournament at Iowa City Regina on Saturday, Dec. 17.
