Mark William Enzi Aird, 72, of Mankato, Minn., formerly of McGregor, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, at Autumn Grace Assisted Living in Mankato, Minn. He had been in assisted living after suffering a stroke in 2006.

Mark was born June 21, 1950, in Miles City, Mt., to George and Anna (Enzi) Aird. Mark graduated from Mar-Mac High School in 1968. Mark worked for the Milwaukee Road Railroad, starting out on the track crews around McGregor and then moving into office work in Milwaukee and then Chicago. When he left the railroad, he was a regional claims adjuster in the Minneapolis office, then he worked at Target.

To those who knew him well, he was the kindest, most gentlest man. He loved to celebrate the good times with you, but if you needed anything, even an ear to listen, he was there.

Mark loved to fish and enjoyed antiquing, but the greatest joy in his life was his nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and, yes, a couple of great-greats. He was always quick to flash that great smile of his, but if any of the kids were around, the sparkle and love in eyes outshined even that great smile.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two infant sisters, Diane and Kathleen; and a niece, Renee (Deutschlander) Rosen.

Surviving are his brother, Robert of Sydney, Mt.; two sisters, Georgia Deutschlander (Edward) of Maple Grove, Minn., and Cindy Boucher (Robert) of White Oak, Penn.; six nieces and nephews, Ed (Toni) of Austin, Texas, Catherine Willard (Michel) of Maple Grove, Minn., Chrissy Dalo (Carlo) of Downingtown, Penn., Don (Holly) of Golden Valley, Minn., Anabell and Steve Schmitt of Minneapolis, Minn., and Amber (Max) Keefer of North Huntingdon, Penn.; 16 great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great nieces and nephews.

Mark’s ashes will be interred in St. Mary’s Cemetery in McGregor over the summer when family gathers to celebrate Mark’s life and say goodbye.
