Jacqueline L. “Jackie” Stram, 86 of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at Great River Care Center in McGregor, IA. 

She was born Sept. 16, 1936, the daughter of John and Ursula (DuCharme) Kasparek. She attended St. Gabriel’s grade school, West Grant High School for one year before graduating from Prairie du Chien High School. Jackie married Clement Stram on Sept. 27, 1955. Together, they raised their six children in the Prairie du Chien area. Jackie enjoyed working with ceramics and traveling the country with her family and friends. She traveled to Las Vegas, NV and Deadwood, SD to play cards and visit casinos and even made it to Alaska and Hawaii. Jackie loved cooking for her family and was known to make the best cinnamon rolls around. She will be dearly missed. Jackie’s husband, Clem preceded her in death on April 3, 2016, after 60 years of marriage. 

She is survived by her children Michael (Melissa), Jane (Brian) Stutt, Gary (Michele), Sandy (Sam) Halverson, Tom (Barb) and Kathleen Stram; her siblings Janice (Roger) Gillitzer, Diane Gehring, Sharon Horsfall, and Lorraine Rice; her grandchildren Megan Wedwick and Molly Bakich, Kathleen Wilt and Kevin Stutt, Crystal Graham, Jeremy, Kurtis, and Nicholas Stram, Karissa Tranel, Erik and Matthew Halverson, Natalie Bekkum, and Nathan and Nolan Stram; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Kasparek Jr. and sister Geraldine Wallin, her brothers-in-law: Richard Gehring, Joe Horsfall, and Bill Rice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Nov 3, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home  from 10 a.m. Thursday until time of departure prior to the Mass.
