May 5, 1929 - September 27, 2022

Bernadette “Bernice” O’Brien, 93, of Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022 at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. 

Bernice was born May 5, 1929 to Adolph G. and Helen (Nell Garvey) Ronnfeldt on the family farm near Steuben. She attended Swatek Ridge School.Throughout the years, Bernice worked at the Old Deck, the Lansing Button Factory, and helped on the family farm. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and her faith was very important to her. Bernice loved to go to rummage sales and always had a camera in her hand. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving Bernice are her children, John (Corrine) O’Brien, Dennis O’Brien, Marla Kay (Gary) Morovits, all of Eastman, and Lois Christian of Richland Center; grandchildren, Kelly (Gary) Hamann, Theresa (Russ) Martin, Becky (Michael) Quam, Emily (Scott) Quam, Jonathan (Alissa) O’Brien, Gordie (Carrie) O’Brien, Montana (Kyle) Jerrett, Samantha and Sadie Christian; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Reid, Ava, Henry, Laney, Aubree, Tatum, Vivica, Miles, Emmett, Zoey, Gracie, Larkin, Lakelyn, Landry and two more on the way; sister-in-law, Maxine Ronnfeldt of Eastman; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Mary O’Brien of Boscobel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Adolf and Helen Ronnfeldt; brothers and sisters, Frank Ronnfeldt, Mary (Charles) McGrath, Millie Ronnfeldt, twin, Bernard (Margaret) Ronnfeldt, Lawrence Ronnfeldt and Leonard (Lu) Ronnfeldt; and a granddaughter, Molly Christian.

Visitation will be from 4 -7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Prairie du Chien. There will also be a one hour visitation before mass at the church on Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, with Rev. Tom Huff as the celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Eastman.
