Steven C. Thomas
Steven Charles Thomas, 58, of Strawberry Point, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. He was born on April 7, 1964, in Manchester, the son of Charles and Helen (Krieg) Thomas. He was raised and educated in the Strawberry Point area, graduating from Starmont High School in 1982. Steve continued his education at Wartburg College, graduating in 1986. After graduating from college, Steve managed Spurgeon’s Department Stores in Marshalltown and Freeport, Ill. In 1990, Steve moved back to Strawberry Point and worked with his father at Thomas Interior Decorating. He later took over the business and continued to serve his clientele until the time of his passing.
On Sept. 5, 1992, Steve was united in marriage to Carol Klosterman at the United Methodist Church in Strawberry Point, and three children were born to this union. Steve was an active member of the Edgewood Bible Church. He served as AWANA leader, game director, trustee and currently as a deacon. He was also very active in his community, serving on the Strawberry Point Ambulance Board and three-point shooting contest. Steve enjoyed golfing, working out, running and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of almost 30 years, Carol Thomas of Strawberry Point; his three children, McKenna (Aaron) Zitelman of Edgewood, Landon Thomas of Kansas City, Mo., and Morgan Thomas of Strawberry Point; his three grandchildren, McCoy, Jade and Selena Zitelman, with another on the way; his father, Charles Thomas of Strawberry Point; his three sisters, Patricia Ann (Brian) Loso of East Dubuque, Ill., Kimberly Kay Schroeder of Chillicothe, Ill., and Tamara Sue (Marvin) Kraus of Elkader; his parents-in-law, Gary and Ruth Klosterman of Edgewood; his brother-in-law, Richard (Sandra) Klosterman of West Union; his sister-in-law, Karen (Scott) Sickels of Strawberry Point; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Thomas.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, at Edgewood Bible Church in Edgewood, with Pastor Jim Rinehart officiating.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
Interment will be at Cass Township Cemetery – Strawberry Point.
