Sandra Marie (Knutson) Engen, 61, of McGregor, died Friday, June 17, 2022, at her home in McGregor. Sandy was born on March 31, 1961, in Prairie du Chien, Wis. She was raised in Prairie du Chien by her hardworking mother. Childhood memories are many with her three sisters and two brothers, as well as several close cousins who grew up close as well. Sandy became a mother early on in her life, which proved to be her biggest blessing. Oct. 15, 1983 marked a marriage with Kenneth Gordon Engen which lasted 38 years. Her biggest accomplishments included her graduation from cosmetology school in 1990 and raising her three kids, with Kenny, on the Eastside Farms just outside of Monona.

Tough love was one of many valuable lessons taught so well by her. House projects, yard work and very particular cleaning were enough to keep her busy, but she found her most precious time camping with family, Luke Bryan concerts with her sisters, and tending to her mini horses and her grandkids, who were the apple of her eye. The renovation of the farm ended when she and Ken moved back to Giard in 2015. One more house renovation created a home perfect for them. The farm in Giard would be the final place for her to close her eyes for the last time on Friday June 17, 2022, surrounded by family and her precious dog. God called her home after a 12-month-long battle with cancer. Resilience and strength were what can be thought of her battle. Ultimately, Sandy knew the fight would end but she did it “Her way!”

Sandy is survived by her husband, Kenneth Engen; her children, Roland Lindner, Rachel Lindner (Bianca) and Curtis Engen (Bailey); her very close niece, Jackie Osborn (Robert); grandchildren, Alexis Goodwin (Michael), Allison, Addilyn, Abigail and Aiden Lindner, Jaymon Morgan and Skyler Engen; one great-grandchild, Carter Goodwin and one on the way; her siblings, Mary Lewis (Rich), Robert Knutson, Willard Knutson (Wendy), Patty Ramsden (Jeff) and Debbie Kopp (Larry); and several nieces and nephews, close friends and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Knutson; one son, Brian John Lindner; and her mother-in-law and fathers-in-law, Linda and John Frink and Gordon Engen.

A visitation was June 23, at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, along with a celebration of life service. Rev. Erica Lenth was the officiant.

Inurnment will be at Giard Cemetery, Giard, at a later date.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, is helping the family with the arrangements.
