E. “Elaine” Duncan, 75, of Steuben, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at her residence in Steuben, surrounded by her family.  

She was born Nov. 6, 1946, in Boscobel, the daughter of Jake and Edna (Curtis) Trumm. Elaine had a strong work ethic and raised her children mostly by herself. Elaine worked at various factories for over 50 years, to include Advance Transformer, Prairie Industries and Novares. Elaine lived a quiet and simple life. She enjoyed reading, completing crossword puzzles, word searches, and watching old black and white movies and TV shows. She enjoyed eating out with family. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of her dog, Rufus. 

She is survived by her children, Sherry (Dennis) Gonterman of Beloit, Shelly (Clem) Mainwaring of Steuben, Serena (Kevin) Stickley of Steuben, and Chad Duncan of Dodgeville; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Daniel (Wendy) Trumm of Steuben. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, along with a brother, Larry Trumm.

A private family celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 23. The Kendall Funeral Service in Boscobel is assisting the family. In lieu of monetary gifts, memorials can be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wauzeka or Crossing Rivers Health Hospice in Prairie du Chien.
