MFL MarMac’s Miranda Lang is the Upper Iowa Conference golf champion. The senior shot a +101 after 18 holes at the May 10 conference meet at South Winn Golf and Country Club.

 

Destiny Kemp of Clayton Ridge and Kylee Whalen of Postville were the next closest golfers, both at +107.

 

MFL MarMac placed sixth as a team with a combined score of 501. Clayton Ridge earned first with a 441, followed by Postville at 461 and North Fayette Valley at 463. South Winneshiek and Central came in fourth and fifth, respectively, at 474 and 480. Turkey Valley’s score of 552 placed the team seventh. 

 

Lang looked to build on that success May 13, in the Class 2A Regionals at Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike-New Hartford. 

 

She completed the meet 33 over after 18 holes to achieve 15th place individually, among 37 competitors. Her final score was 105.

 

Bulldog Mackenzie Bachman also finished in the top 30 among Friday’s golfers. She placed 25th overall with a 115, finishing 43 over par.

 

As for their teammates, Morgan Jacobson rallied to  a +118, taking 28th place; Clare Grau hit 124 to place 33rd; Mallory Lang came in right behind her, shooting a 136 and earning 34th; then Kaylee Nuehring rounded out the team with a 146, falling into 36th place on the day. 

 

The Bulldogs recorded a team score of 462 at regionals, which put them in sixth place. The regional champ was the home team, Dike-New Hartford, with 364. Sumner-Fredericksburg was second just a few points behind with a 367. Finishing third was Oelwein with 413, just beating Columbus Catholic, which scored 414. The fifth place team was North Fayette Valley, which ended its team contest with 455 points—just seven ahead of MFL MarMac.
