Valedictorian Elizabeth Bird and Salutatorian Jonah Reichmann

Elizabeth Bird has been named the Valedictorian and Jonah Reichmann the Salutatorian of the Wauzeka-Steuben High School’s 2022 graduating class.

Elizabeth is the daughter of Seth and Jessie Bird. She has been active throughout her high school career while excelling academically. Lizzie has earned high honors all four years, achieving an academic letter and four pins for her excellence in the classroom. 

She was most recently named to the Ridge and Valley All-Academic Team. Furthermore, she has been actively involved in a number of extra-curriculars over the past four years. She participated in volleyball and played Dorothy in the school’s production of “The Wizard of Oz.” In addition, Lizzie has been part of numerous clubs, including the science club, math team, National Honor Society, Spanish club, and Hornet Council. She has also served in many leadership positions within these organizations and has served as class president throughout high school. Lizzie was selected as a Badger Girls State nominee her junior year. 

Over the years, Elizabeth has volunteered her time for American Red Cross Blood Drives, Teen Court, PALS, and various activities through her church. She has assisted with the district’s after-school program. She has completed 160 hours of community service, earning herself silver cord recognition. 

Outside of school, Elizabeth has worked at Design Homes Inc. and Boondocks Bar & Grill. 

She plans to attend UW-Green Bay next fall to major in human biology. 

Lizzie would like to thank her parents for always pushing her to do more and be the best she can be. She would also like to thank her friends and the teachers and staff at Wauzeka-Steuben who have helped get her to where she is today.

Jonah is the son of Jason and Kirsten Reichmann. He has also been greatly involved throughout his high school career while excelling academically. Jonah achieved academic high honors all four years, earning himself an academic letter and four pins for his classroom excellence. He was recently named to the Ridge and Valley All-Academic Team. Jonah has participated in cross country, basketball, and baseball throughout his four years of high school, earning varsity letters and numerous awards for both his athleticism and sportsmanship. He has been active in the National Honor Society, math team, science club, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), and fishing club. He was a Badger Boys State nominee his junior year. 

Over the years, Jonah has also given back to his community through volunteerism. He assisted with the district’s summer school program, various events sponsored by the Wauzeka Lions Club, dinners at the Wauzeka Lutheran Church, American Red Cross Blood Drives, roadside cleanups, bell ringing for the Salvation Army, yardwork within the village, and tornado clean-up with the Mississippi Valley Conservancy. 

Jonah plans to attend UW-Platteville to major in reclamation and environmental conservation. 

He would like to thank his parents for guiding him since day one and showing him what hard work, determination, and success is. He has learned all of his life skills from them and he thanks them for that. Second, he would like to thank his siblings. They have helped him tremendously along the way. Whether it's helping him complete a math assignment, edit a five-page paper, or simply just taking time out of their day to be there for him, they have helped him become the person he is today. Lastly, Jonah would like to thank his teachers. They have provided him with guidance and inspiration. He has always turned to his teachers when he has a question or needs help on something, and they have always been there for him.
