The MFL MarMac girls golf team kicked off its season last week, losing the opening meet at Central but placing second in a home triangular the following night.

Central won the April 11 meet 212-270, behind medalist Haley Frieden and runner up Alexis Fettkether, who shot respective scores of 50 and 51.

Miranda Lang’s 55 was the top score for the Bulldogs and fourth best that night. Mallory Lang shot a 66 for MFL MarMac, followed by Lauren Haberichter at 74, Wren Feuerhelm at 75 and Kaylee Nuehring at 88.

The Bulldogs were back in action April 12, placing second of three teams in their first home meet at Tri City Golf Course in Luana. Postville took the top spot at 231, then MFL MarMac at 265. Waukon did not field a team score.

The meet medalist was Postville’s Kathleen Looney, with a 54, while a 56 gave Pirate Kylee Whalen the runner up position.

Miranda Lang wasn’t far behind, with a 58 placing her third. Feuerhelm improved her score to 64, for eighth place, and Haberichter came in ninth at 71. Mallory Lang shot a 72, Clare Grau a 79 and Nuehring an 89.

The Bulldogs were slated to play again April 14, but inclement weather postponed the home meet against West Central to April 19. They will play at Clayton Ridge on April 21.
