The city of Marquette has set its spring cleanup for Saturday, April 30. Residents can bring items to the Roundhouse Park off Highway 18 from 8 to 11 a.m.

It’s an opportunity council member Dave Schneider hopes people will take advantage of, citing a buildup of refuse at some properties.

“Hopefully we can really get people to use it this year. It’s a chance to clean up your city and take pride in it,” he said at the March 8 council meeting.

At the request of the council, city clerk Bonnie Basemann said she would also look into programs for the potential collection of tires, chemicals and electronics—items that are not accepted at the regular cleanup.

Meeting will discuss B45

Mayor Steve Weipert said the Clayton County engineer will host a public meeting seeking input on Pleasant Ridge Road/B45 improvements on Wednesday, March 23. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the community center.
