Hawks fifth at Clash

Maddox Cejka scrambles from a high pod just before a two-point takedown against his Iowa Grant/Highland opponent in the semifinals. Cejka would go on to a second-place finish.

Rhett Koenig locks up a double arm bar against his Mineral Point opponent in the semifinals. Koenig would go on to win by major decision 10-2 en route to a first-place finish.
On Saturday Prairie du Chien hosted their first ever SWC/SWAL Clash wrestling tournament. In recent history, this tournament has rotated back and forth between Richland Center and Mineral Point. However, with the building of the Fieldhouse, the increased capacity made it possible for PDC to join the rotation.
The Blackhawks came into the tournament very short handed, only wrestling nine of the 14 weights. Because of this, it would be an uphill battle to finish high. However, the ones that did wrestle made the most of their opportunities and wrestled good enough for a fifth-place finish in the 13-team tournament with 178.5 points. Fennimore would win, with 254.5 points, followed by Iowa Grant/Highland, Mineral Point, and Darlington/Black Hawk.
The Blackhawks had four wrestlers in the finals. Of the four, Rhett Koenig came away with a Clash Title, becoming just the seventh wrestler in PDC history to win two Clash Titles. Luke Kramer, Maddox Cejka, and Brogan Brewer would come up just short in their quests to be champs.
