Madilyn Fisher of Prairie du Chien was third on the varsity vault.

Jasmine Olmstead placed fourth in the Junior Varsity All-Around.

Leilani Pflueger was sixth on the Junior Varsity Floor Exercise.

On Saturday, Dec. 18, the Prairie du Chien-Fennimore gymnastics team hosted their inaugural eight-team JV and Varsity Invitational. This was also the team’s first meet of the season.

In past years, the first meet of the season was not until the first weekend in January, so the girls really had to kick it in gear to have all of their routines ready for this meet. With the majority of the PDC/F team consisting of freshmen and sophomores, this was many of the gymnasts’ first time competing ever.

The PDC/F team started the meet on the Floor Exercise. This is the team’s strongest event. Madilyn Fisher scored 13th Place with a fall on her first tumbling pass with a score of 8.55. Leilani Pflueger placed 6th on JV Floor with a score of 7.875. She had a very clean routine.

The team performed on the Vault next. Vault is the team’s second strongest event. Madilyn Fisher placed third for Varsity Vault with a score of 8.7.

The team then went to the Uneven Bars. This is usually when the team starts to fall apart, bars is one of the harder events to master in the sport of gymnastics it takes great upper body strength and control. Madilyn Fisher placed  6th with a score of 8.3.

The team’s final performance was the Balance Beam. The gymnasts have great skills on the beam but they had a hard time staying on the beam. For every fall, they get 0.5 taken off of their final score. Alyssa Schoepp placed 8th on the balance beam with a score of 8.4 with one fall.

In All Around, Madilyn Fisher scored 10th place with a score of 32.825 for Varsity. Jasmine Olmstead placed 4th for JV All-Around with a score of 21.825.

“Overall, this was a great first meet. This was a great learning experience for the freshmen who have never competed before and for the others to know what we need to work on for the rest of the season,” said Coach Alex Udelhofen.

The final team scores for the meet were:

Varsity: 1st MT. Horeb 141.90, 2nd West Salem  Co-op 134.475, 3rd Platteville/ Belmont/ Lancaster1 129.075, 4th Southwestern Co-op 127.025, 5th  River Valley/Barneveld 125.125, 6th Dodgeville/Mineral point 1243.675, 7th PDC/Fen. 120.55, 8th Platteville/Belmont2 108.7
