The Timberwolves’ Logan Drone pressures the Hornets’ Caydon Lomas.

Wauzeka-Steuben came back in the second half to nip River Ridge 55-53 in a nonconference basketball game between two top area teams Monday night. 

The Timberwolves built a 30-19 halftime advantage, but the pesky Hornets took the second half 36-23 to gain the victory. 

Braden Crubel netted 16 points for River Ridge. Will Cooley added 13. David Nies scored 9 and Ian Adrian contributed 9. 

Wauzeka-Steuben improved to 6-0 on the season. River Ridge went to 5-1. 

Wauzeka-Steuben will next travel to North Crawford on Dec. 16. 

River Ridge will next travel to Shullsburg on Dec. 21.
