The Prairie du Chien Blackhawk wrestlers opened their season Saturday at the Cramer/Brown Duals hosted by Janesville Parker.

The Hawks would come home with the first-place trophy after a day of dominating the competition by scoring a lot of bonus points.

PDC matched up with Edgerton in round one. Powered by 10 falls in the dual, PDC would come away with a 78-0 victory.

In round two, PDC wrestled Kenosha Bradford. Once again, PDC would rely on bonus points with eight falls to come away with a 72-12 victory.

In round three, PDC would face Janesville Parker and it would be much of the same. The Hawks would record seven falls and one technical fall to rack up bonus points and secure a 56-18 victory.

In the final round, PDC would take on Monroe. The Hawks would get four falls and a technical fall en route to a 56-18 victory.

On the day, the Hawk grapplers recorded 29 falls and two technical falls while going a combined 46-10 individually. The Hawks were led by seven wrestlers who were undefeated on the day. Leading the charge were: Ryder Koenig, Rhett Koenig, Drew Hird, Luke Kramer, Cole Halverson, Blake Thiry, and Ty Wagner. The JV squad also wrestled very well, going a combined 14-1 on the day.

Next up for the Hawks will be a busy week of wrestling. On Thursday,  Dec. 9, the grapplers will travel to Holmen, a perennial D1 force, for a 7:15 dual. On Friday, the JV wrestlers will be wrestling at the Devils Duals individual tournament at the Wisconsin Dells Dome with a 6 p.m. start. On Saturday, the varsity will be wrestling in the 32-team Devils Duals at Wisconsin Dells with some of the top teams in the state in attendance. Wrestling starts at 9 a.m.

Go Hawks!
