Shirley Ruth Jensen, 96, of Marquette, Iowa, died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at her home in Marquette, Iowa. Shirley was born on Dec. 21, 1924, to Archie and Ruth (Nelson) Campbell in Kenosha. She graduated from Bradford High School (Kenosha) in 1943. During WWII, Shirley worked in an aircraft factory and was a telephone operator. She played piano at the USO.

Shirley was united in marriage with Walter H. Jensen on Oct. 6, 1945, at Grace Lutheran Church in Kenosha. Two children were born to this union. Shirley and Walter owned and operated the Jensen Piano and Organ Company in Racine and Kenosha for 11 years. She also taught piano and organ lessons. Shirley was very sociable, had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed animals, her flowers, and baking. Shirley volunteered at the voting polls in Racine and Marquette. After the loss of her husband, Shirley took many bus trips with her special friend, Bob Eggen. While living in Racine, Shirley was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Racine and, after moving to McGregor in 1993, Shirley became a member of the First Lutheran Church and WELCA in McGregor, Iowa. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies, her church quilting group, and a volunteer at Great River Care Center for many years

Surviving Shirley are her two children, David (Virginia) Jensen of Hollandale, and Donna Horsfield (Bob Bedker) of McGregor; two grandchildren, Joe Jensen of Ridgeway, and Melissa Jensen (Marc Odegaard) of Mount Horeb; special friend, Bob Eggen of McGregor; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Shirley in death were her husband, Walter Jensen; parents, Archie and Ruth Campbell; one brother and sister-in-law, Pastor Archie and Naomi Campbell, and her sister and brother-in-law, LaVona and Don Ralston.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor. There will also be one-hour visitation before services at the church on Saturday.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at First Lutheran Church in McGregor, with Rev. Gary Hatcher as the officiant.

Inurnment will take place at a later date in Sunset Ridge Cemetery in Kenosha.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor is assisting the family with arrangements.
