Florence I. Foster, 88, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, at Sienna Crest Memory Care in Mineral Point. 

She was born March 5, 1933, the daughter of Lemuel and Laura (Colbert) Oates. Florence graduated from Patch Grove High School. She was united in marriage to James Hampton on Aug. 25, 1950, at the Patch Grove United Methodist Church. Together they farmed in Grant County. She worked at Bluff Haven Assisted Living in Prairie du Chien, waitressed and provided child care. Florence was a member of the Patch Grove United Methodist Church, and Royal Neighbors. 

James passed away in 1987. Florence later married Walter Hemple, and they traveled and enjoyed fishing. On April 22, 2002, Florence married Jack Foster in Patch Grove. Together, they enjoyed traveling, fishing, and playing cards. She liked to quilt, color in adult coloring books, and do word find books and puzzles. Florence will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving is a son, David; two daughters, Kathy (Mike) Mumm and Bonnie (Stan) Harris; five grandchildren, Laura (Steve) Connelly, Fred Mumm, Ben (Veronica) Mumm, Kyle and Evan Harris; 11 great-grandchildren, and members of the Foster family.

In addition to her husbands, James Hampton, Walter Hemple and Jack Foster; she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cindy Mumm; and her sister, Etha (Walter) Bass.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory in Bloomington, with Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial will be in the Blake’s Prairie Cemetery, Bloomington Township. Family and friends may call on Friday, Oct. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Florence Foster memorial fund has been established.
