The tech rescue trailer is equipped with a variety of rescue necessities, particularly two sets of aluminum panels that can form a rescue tube and help bring an entrapped individual out of confined space like a full grain bin.

The Holy Trinity Council of the Knights of Columbus will host a fish fry carryout dinner on Saturday, Oct. 23, at Father Baer Hall in Eastman, from 4 p.m. until the fish is gone. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Crawford County Technical Rescue trailer.

“We saw [they were trying to raise money for the trailer] and felt it was such an encompassing project of the whole county,” said Knight Tom Martin. “It has the potential to help every citizen of this county.”

The tech rescue trailer is available for use in Crawford County as well as the surrounding communities. Its capabilities are to assist emergency workers called to save the lives of anyone endangered inside confined spaces like grain bins, manholes and manure pits, or over cliffs and down steep grades.

The trailer is stationed at the Wauzeka Fire Department and is ready to be dispatched should any need arise across the region. It’s all ready to go; any local fire department that requests it can just hook up and go.

The trailer is filled with about $25,000 in equipment that can be used in these types of rescue situations. Yet, additional essential equipment is still desired, to the tune of another $19,000, for the trailer to become fully functional for more potential scenarios.

In addition to fried fish and all the fixin’s for dinner, there will be a 50/50 raffle and quilt raffle.

Drive up, grab a carryout, get in on a raffle, and head home.

“The Knights of Columbus is all about Faith, Family and Community. This is all about Crawford County,” Martin said. “We’re hoping our funds will put one piece of equipment in that trailer that may save a life.”
