Dwaine Earl Posten, 72, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, at Crossing Rivers Health after a short illness. 

He was born May 16, 1949, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Oscar and Lucille (Valley) Posten. In his younger years, Dwaine worked as a janitor’s assistant at B.A. Kennedy School. He then worked at the Opportunity Center for many years, where he loved his job. In recent years, he enjoyed hanging out with his friends at Meadow Lane and had a very high regard for his caregiver Prema. Dwaine was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He loved children and they loved him as well. 

Dwaine is survived by one brother, Donald (Teresa) Heal of Prairie du Chien; two sisters, Judith Berg of Richland Center, and Darlene (Ronald) Bunders of Prairie du Chien; his sister-in-law, Theresa Heal of Prairie du Chien and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Alvin Heal; and his brother-in-law, Francis Berg.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. 

The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
