Donald Francis Rohner, 88, of Guttenberg, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Monday, Oct. 11, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and before services at the church.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 12, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries. 

Interment was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Garnavillo.

Don was born on July 8, 1933, in Elkader, the son of Frank and Irene (Miller) Rohner.

Don received his education in Garnavillo where he graduated with the class of 1951. This past May was his 70th high school anniversary. From November 1953 through September 1955, Don served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Feb. 23, 1957, Don was united in marriage with Janice Berns at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garnavillo. Don was a former member of many organizations including Knights of Columbus, Eagles Club, Guttenberg Country Club, Guttenberg Park Board and Clayton County Fair Board. Don was able to winter in Mission, Texas for 30 years. 

Don will be forever loved and cherished by his wife of almost 65 years, Janice; four children, Cindy Troester, Jeff (Julie) Rohner, Karla (Bob Myers) Vogel and Sandy (Fred) Witte; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two siblings, David “Butch” Rohner and Dorothy Wendel and many other relatives and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Rohner; daughter, Karen Wachendorf; grandson, Travis Rohner; three sisters, Marie Benskin, Betty Tapke and Marcella Dodge.
