Ruth Ann (Walker) Johnson, 86, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. 

She was born Sept. 22, 1934, in Dodgeville, the daughter of R. Donald and Sadie (Hickox) Walker. In 1952, Ruth Ann graduated from Spring Green High School and later graduated from Madison Business College. She married Kenneth I. Johnson on Oct. 14, 1956, at the Wyoming Valley Methodist Church near Spring Green. While supporting and enjoying Kenneth’s work as 4-H and Youth Agent, Ruth also worked with the Crawford County Nutrition Program and for many years at H&R Block. Ruth Ann and Kenneth dedicated themselves to being supportive parents and grandparents to many. Ruth Ann will always be remembered for the joy she found in sharing time, conversation and laughter with family and friends, all of whom received her warm and gracious hospitality. 

Ruth Ann is survived by her daughters, Jane Baker of Prairie du Chien, Paula (Jeff) Kroes of Onalaska, Fern (Rich) Hosfeld of Stoughton, and Betty (Bryan) Laskowski of Eau Claire; her grandchildren, Angela (Aaron), Luke (Nikki), Andy (Ashley), Brent (Alexa), Arich, Brenna (Garrett), and Kiersten; great-grandchildren, Garret, Aylah, Brock, Callie, Abbott, and Cashton; nephew, Sam Hinerman; and the extended Johnson family. 

Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her sisters, Esther Hinerman and Virginia Woodard; and a granddaughter, Theresa. 

Ruth Ann’s family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Prairie Maison and Crossing Rivers Health Hospice for the wonderful care received during the past several months. 

A private memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church, Pastor Maria Kim officiating with inurnment in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church, the University of Wisconsin 4-H Foundation or the charity of your choice. The Garrity Funeral Home, of Prairie du Chien, is assisting the family.
