Missing local teen found safe in Tennessee

A 13-year-old girl from rural Edgewood was one of two teens found on Friday after being reported missing

in Tennessee last week.

Erica Gamerdinger went missing on Monday night, July 26, at the Wilderness Road Campground at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park. Authorities also searched for 15-year-old Keith Griffith of Speedwell, Tenn., who was also last seen on Monday, and who was believed to be with Erica. Officials considered both teenagers to be missing and endangered. The Cumberland Gap park lies along the borders of Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia. 

Erica is the daughter of Jamie and Jen Gamerdinger, who reside in rural Edgewood. Her father operates Landing 615 in Guttenberg, and the family is well-known in the community. Friends, family and acquaintances had been anxiously awaiting word of her whereabouts since she went missing, and had included her and her family on many prayer lists.

In a Facebook post on Friday morning, July 30, her father reported, "The Lord has answered our prayers. They are found."

He later posted, "My family and I just don't know how to thank you all for all the help!  FBI, DTI, State Patrols,  Claiborne Sheriff's office,  Park Rangers, Marshals, radio stations, news channels, and the amazing communities around here. Everyone we talked to wanted to help!  We are so grateful for everything!"
