The Prairie du Chien Lions Club is bringing the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus to Prairie du Chien on Saturday, Aug. 14, for two shows on St. Feriole Island—one at 2 p.m. and one at 4:30 p.m.

Now in its 36th edition, the one-ring, big top circus will be set up at 5th and Bolvin Streets. Each 90-minute show will include an all-star lineup of performers and entertainers. See Miss Simone and her breathtaking single trapeze, Miss Paulina’s proud “Big and Little” dancing ponies, the Arlise Troupe on their wild and crazy unicycles, Logan Jimenez with his Cockatoo Review, Emilie Dean and her amazing feats of aerial strength, the Wheel of Destiny, and the Russian Swing by the Perez Family.  Also performing will be Jungle Cats, Soloman and Delilah, presented by Trey Key, that will have you on the edge of your seats. All accompanied by original music composed by the talented Matt Margucci from Los Angeles.

The Midway will open prior to the first show for pony rides, a moonbounce, concessions and more.

Save money by purchasing your tickets in advance at Zinkle’s Piggly Wiggly, Nelson True Value, The Sweet Tooth, DH BP North, PdC City Hall or Lion Carol Crusan (608-412-3184).

In addition to the big top circus, the public is invited to watch the tent raising and stay for a free tour on circus day. This offers a unique face-to-face opportunity for families, schools, day care centers and community members to meet and learn all about the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus. Learn facts about the performers, the history of the show and the different species of animals in the circus family. Also, the hosts will address topics like hygiene, grooming and veterinary care of all the animals. This is a special part of the circus day that should not be missed.
