This year’s Upper Iowa all-conference teams included five MFL MarMac baseball players. Senior Max Havlicek and junior Cullen McShane were named to the first team and junior Kaden Stocker to the second team, while junior Chauncy Drahn and sophomore Karter Decker picked up honorable mention recognition.
Havlicek was the team’s ace, going 5-3 in 10 regular season starts. He had a 3.40 ERA over 35 innings pitched, and held opponents to a .262 batting average, while striking out 40 batters.
Offensively, Havlicek also led the Bulldogs in almost every statistical category. He earned a .378 batting average in 82 at bats. His .495 on base percentage was best in the Upper Iowa Conference and his .683 slugging percentage was third best. Havlicek totaled a team-high 31 hits, 15 of which were for extra bases, including four homeruns. Additionally, he led MFL MarMac with 28 RBIs and 29 runs scored, and stole 18 bases.
McShane slashed a .343 batting average in 70 ABs, along with a .471 on base percentage and .571 slugging percentage. He was third on the team with 24 total hits, including seven doubles and three homeruns. McShane picked up 14 RBIs, which was third most among Bulldog players, and scored 17 runs. He also tied for most stolen bases, completing 24 of 27 attempts.
In 81 at bats, Stocker earned a .272 batting average, in addition to a .422 on base percentage. He racked up 22 hits and drew a team-high 21 walks. Stocker knocked in 10 runs and scored 26 runs, which was second best on the team, and swiped 24 of 26 bases, tying him for first place.
Stocker also pitched a team-high 37.2 innings for MFL MarMac, going 1-5 in that stretch with a 4.27 ERA. Opponents hit .268 against him and struck out 36 times, trailing only Havlicek’s total.
Drahn had 79 regular season at bats for the Bulldogs, securing a .329 batting average and .454 on base percentage. He had the second most team hits, with 26, including four doubles and two triples. Drahn netted 17 RBIs and 17 runs scored, along with stealing 11 bases.
Defensively, Drahn was one of MFL MarMac’s leaders as well. He earned a .948 fielding percentage as the first baseman and had 155 put outs, a total that placed him first on the team and among conference leaders.
Decker hit .218 and had a .348 on base percentage over 55 regular season at bats. His 12 hits included four doubles and a homerun. Decker also drove in five runs and scored 22 runs—third best among Bulldog players. He was a perfect 17-17 stealing bases.
