Iowa Grant edged host Wauzeka-Steuben 2-1 in a Division 4 Regional baseball game Thursday afternoon.

Iowa Grant scored twice in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead on the hot day, which had temperatures in the mid-90s.

The Hornets scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull within 2-1, but ended up falling just short.

Iowa Grant had 8 hits and committed 1 error. Wauzeka-Steuben had 4 hits and committed no errors.

Jonah Reichmann was 2x3 with a run scored for the Hornets. Garret Kapinus was 1x3 with a triple. Ethan Klema was 1x3.

Caydon Lomas took the loss. He fanned 7 and walked 1 while allowing 7 hits in 6 innings. Isaac Reichmann surrendered 1 hit and whiffed 1 in 1 inning.
