SWS Blue-Golds look forward to spring season By Ted Pennekamp

 

The Seneca/Wauzeka-Steuben football team finds itself in the unusual situation of playing spring football for 2021. 

Of course, the team would have normally played in the fall of 2020, but due to COVID, it was decided to wait until this spring. 

The conference for the spring season will include Bangor, Necedah, New Lisbon, Brookwood, Cashton, Royall, Riverdale, and Seneca/Wauzeka-Steuben.

“We are only playing five games this season,” said SWS Coach Justin Goodrich. “The week of our final game, baseball, track, and football will all be going on at the same time. We are scheduled to play Bangor at Mauston, Brookwood at Wauzeka, Cashton at Seneca, at Necedah, and at New Lisbon.”

“It’s been almost a year and a half since the last time the players suited up in pads, so we need to get them in the football hitting mindset,” said Goodrich. 

The first practice was on Monday, March 8.

Last season, the team won its third straight Ridge and Valley Conference title and will be looking to do well again this season.
