The Central Warriors softball team lost in the first round of the playoffs July 13, falling to the three-win Starmont Stars 12-1.

Delaney Scherf led the Central offense with a double and run scored. Maddy Wille tallied two hits, while Madison Sylvester and Kaitlyn Wiley each singled.

On the season, the Warriors finished 3-17 overall and 2-14 in the Upper Iowa Conference, in eighth place, just ahead of the Postville Pirates.

One of the team’s biggest struggles was pitching, with a combined  ERA of 9.46. Pitchers allowed opponents to bat .327.

Offensively, there were four standout players: Maddy Wille, Alison Feickert, Abby Cummer and Delaney Scherf. Three of the four players batted over .300, while Scherf hit an astounding .400 for the season.
