For Central, good attitude will go a long way

In just limited practice time, Central Head Softball Coach Gerald Funk said he’s already impressed with the positivity his players have shown, and he’s excited about the possibilities the team has this season.
The team’s good attitude is one of its strengths. “The athletes also work hard and listen well,” he added.
The Warriors will continue to work on their skills as the season progresses, in addition to improving pitching, defense and offense.
Funk, who’s in his fifth season as Central’s head coach, is joined by four-year assistant Jill Funk and first-year volunteer assistant Tony Smith.
They’ll rely on Chelsia Larson to lead the pitching staff, while returners Abby Cummer and Delaney Scherf look to make big impacts offensively. Defensively, the Warriors will be bolstered by Maddy Wille and Madison Sylvester.
Some younger athletes the coaches hope will fill key roles include Kaitlyn Wiley, Fern Dierson, Katelyn Scherf, Alyson Feickert and Lexi Loan.
When asked if there are any games on the schedule Central is particularly looking forward to, the Funks said match-ups with Turkey Valley and South Winn should be fun to watch.
